About

A bit about me.

Where did it begin for me? Was it borne out of being “the good drawer” in my class at primary school? Maybe it was the dreich Scottish summers spent at my parents’ caravan that first piqued my interest in drawing. Or Mr Nixon’s harsh-but-fair critique in my high school art class. Regardless of where it began, I can be certain of one thing. By the time I left high school, my aspirations centred around the art school in Glasgow.

Studying Visual Communication there, I specialised in Graphic Design. A summer freelancing at The Union in Edinburgh preceded my honours year, which lead on to two invaluable years at Wright Design in Glasgow, cutting my teeth on a variety of branding, advertising and print briefs.

Over the past decade I’ve worked for a range of businesses large and small, spanning agency and in-house roles. I’ve produced work for some international brands, covering both traditional and digital media. Having been part of several design teams over this time, I’ve encountered many different ways of working and this breadth of experience has informed my own process.

Narrative sits at the core of my creative approach. I find the best way of engaging people is telling them stories they can relate to. So whether it’s conveying the benefits of a new product or raising awareness of an event, there’s a relatable story in there somewhere. Finding that story, and deciding how to visually tell it, is the challenge that I love.
